nz open!

soo its official, i have decided to do the nz open! today i called the event coordinator reuben, and asked him what the chances were of getting in if i showed up on registration day, but i am already on the waiting list. he told me that he doesn't see a problem and i should definitely get in. no guarantees but he said that most likely i should easily get in! so therefore im going up to wanaka thursday night..and ill be there 10 days until the following sunday.

tuesday: registration day and slopestyle practice
wednesday: slopestyle qualifiers - this will probably be where the competing at the open ends for me, but im totally fine with that
thursday-sunday: ride and then rage at all the afterparties in wanaka!

i also was preparing a run for myself. if its the 4 line then i want to do back three...maybe to front 3 (or the other way around), then shifty stalefish, then crail. sounds lame but its the best i got. however i was concerned with the terrible style i have in my back threes so i decided to ask some friends for coaching advice on how to make them look better. luckily scott stevens happened to be online so i hit him up and he actually was a big help! between him and chud this is what i learned: i need to work on my setup turns. when i get that right, i will come at the lip with the right angle. i need to take off more on my edge and almost prespin a little more then i do, so that the board is spinning more as i come off the lip. with the right momentum i will be able to slow the spin and cleanly land it. doing a grab will stableize the spin, and scott reccommends a front hand grab, so it looks like if i follow their advice, maybe i can try them off the big jumps?

ahh i just cant wait to get out there and shred. well thats all for now, i better get back to my essay so i can miss a week of classes. its a strategic communications essay: Norge og Den Andre Verdenskrig: Power, Propaganda and Ethics.us open 2009: hoping i look 1000x better at the nz open
